CLOK members are welcome to participate in an orienteering activity in Teesside University, Middlesbrough 10 a.m. 2 p.m. on Wednesday 7th October 2026 |
|
| Overview: |
CLOK is helping British Orienteering and Tees Valley Sport to organise an activity to introduce Teesside University students and staff to orienteering. As this is classed as an activity rather than an event, results will not be published on the web site. However, there will be a display of participants' running times during the activity.
| Location: |
The Start and Finish will be on the northern side of the Olympia Building. Click on the link to see a map. You can zoom in (and, optionally, switch to Satellite mode) to see the exact location of the Olympia Building. If you are coming by car, you will need to find somewhere to park near Teesside University. We understand that the Woodlands Car park (at the west end of Waterloo Road) is available to the public on a pay-and-display basis, and Middlesbrough Borough Council has a map showing on-street parking in Middlesbrough town centre. Download will be in the lobby of the Olympia Building.
| Terrain: | Flat urban terrain within the University campus. | |
| Courses: |
Long course: 3.5km Short course: 1.5 km
| Map: |
1:3,000 scale Control descriptions will be printed on the maps.
| Punching system: |
SPORTident electronic punching will be used. The control boxes will be activated to enable SIAC cards to operate in touch-free mode ..... but please note that you will need to punch the conventional way at the Start and Finish.
| Entries: |
This activity is being organised for Teesside University students and staff, but CLOK members are welcome to participate. If you wish to participate, please register via this online system before midnight on Wednesday 30-Sep-2026. (We need you to pre-register so that we can ensure that there is a map for you.) As long as you have pre-registered, you can turn up and run at any time during the start window. If you have not pre-registered, you can turn up on the day if you wish, but you will only be able to have a run if we have a spare map and you will not be able to go for your run until after 1:30 p.m.. (You won't be able to run earlier because we don't know how many Teesside University students and staff members are going to turn up for a run, so we won't know if we have any spare maps until about 1:30 p.m. It really is better if you pre-register.) There is no charge for participating in this activity.
| Starts: |
