Parking will be in the Yarm School car parks. The entrance to the school is of the A67 at the south end of Yarm High Street at grid reference NZ419125. The postcode is TS15 9EJ and the What3words reference is ///cabinet.employ.televise. Click on the link to see a map. | Terrain: |
Parkland and urban streets in the southern part of Yarm. The Short course uses parkland and some minor suburban streets with only light traffic. The Medium and Long courses cross the main road through Yarm at a pedestrian crossing. This crossing will be timed out up to a maximum of 2 minutes. Anyone under the age of 16 on the day of the event who wishes to run the Medium or Long course must be accompanied by an adult during their run. Please be mindful of other users of the area and be considerate towards members of the public. | |||||||||||||

The course lengths have been measured along straight lines between the controls. In practice, you will run significantly further. For example, the optimum route distance for the Long course is about 6 km. | |||||||||||||

1:4,000 scale 2.5m contours A3 size for Long and Medium A4 size for Short Control descriptions will be printed on the map and loose copies will be available at the Start. | |||||||||||||
| Punching system: |
SPORTident electronic punching will be used. The control boxes will be activated to enable SIAC cards to operate in touch-free mode ..... but please note that you will need to punch the conventional way at the Start and Finish. If you need to hire an SI-card (£1 hire charge), please order it via the Racesignup online entry system and collect it from Download before your run. Remember to return it as you download, and take care of it, as there will be a £20 charge if you lose it. A limited number of SI-cards will be available for hire on the day, but please pre-order via the online entry system if at all possible. | |||||||||||||

| Starts: |
11 a.m. - 12 noon Courses close at 1 p.m. The Start and Finish are 800m south of the school. Follow the taped route. Note for parents of young juniors The route goes along the pavement beside the main road through Yarm, but it does include a road crossing. It is recommended that young juniors should be accompanied at the road crossing, both on the way to the Start and on the way back from the Finish. |

| Second run: | You can run a second course for free, subject to map availability. Register when you download after your first run, and please start your first run early enough to enable you to finish your second run before the courses close. | |||||||||||||
| Facilities: |
Competitors will have access to the toilets in one of the school buildings. No drinks will be provided. Please bring your own refreshments or visit the many fine establishjments along Yarm High Street. First aid at Download. | |||||||||||||
| Dogs: |
Well behaved dogs are welcome at this event, but must be kept on leads at all times. You can take your dog out on your course provided that you keep it on a short lead and take great care not to cause a hazard to members of the public or other competitors. | |||||||||||||

A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the Organiser, but please remember that competitors take part at their own risk. Orienteering is an adventure sport your safety while orienteering is your own responsibility. Please make sure that you download even if you do not complete your course. CLOK recommends that you carry a whistle whilst participating in this (and every) orienteering event. If you have a relevant medical condition, please add this to your competitor details in Racesignup. Any information provided will be treated in strict confidence and will only be used if you need medical treatment and are unable to communicate at the time. | |||||||||||||
