Parking will be in the overflow car park in Preston Park, off the A135 (Yarm Road) in Eaglescliffe, just south of the A66.  Preston Park's postcode is TS18 3RH.  Once inside the park gates, turn right.  The grid reference of the entrance to the overflow car park is NZ 427156 and the What3words reference is ///iteration.yelled.stub.

Preston Park consists of varied urban parkland, with mixed runnability.  The undergrowth in some areas has thrived in the recent weather and full leg covering is recommended.

Competitors on the Long and Red courses may find themselves running outside the boundary of the park alongside local roads.  Because of this, anyone under the age of 16 on the day of the event who wishes to run the Long or Red course must be accompanied by an adult during their run.

The River Tees runs directly along the east side of the map and courses pass close to deep water.  There is no need for any competitor to go right up to the water's edge.

Control descriptions will be printed on the map and loose copies will be available at the Start.

SPORTident electronic punching will be used.

The control boxes will be activated to enable SIAC cards to operate in touch-free mode ..... but please note that you will need to punch the conventional way at the Start and Finish.

If you need to hire an SI-card (£1 hire charge), please order it via the Racesignup online entry system and collect it from Download before your run.  Remember to return it as you download, and take care of it, as there will be a £20 charge if you lose it.  A limited number of SI-cards will be available for hire on the day, but please pre-order via the online entry system if at all possible.

If at all possible, please pre-enter via Racesignup.  Online entries close at midnight on Thursday 28-May-2026.

There will be limited entry on the day, subject to the availability of maps.

The Start will be less than 200 metres from the car park.

There are public toilets near the Preston Park cafe.

No drinks will be provided.  Please bring your own refreshments or visit the Preston Park cafe.

Well behaved dogs are welcome at this event, but must be kept on leads at all times.

You can take your dog out on your course provided that you keep it on a short lead and take great care not to cause a hazard to members of the public or other competitors.

A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the Organiser, but please remember that competitors take part at their own risk.  Orienteering is an adventure sport – your safety while orienteering is your own responsibility.

Please make sure that you download even if you do not complete your course.
