Parking is in the Station car park in Robin Hoods Bay, south-east of Whitby.  The grid reference is NZ 950054, the postcode is YO22 4RA and the What3words reference is ///strapped.enjoyable.daunted.

From the north and west:  Take the A171 through Whitby to Hawsker, and then turn left on to the B1447 to Robin Hoods Bay.  Entering the upper village, turn right into first public car park.

From Scarborough:  Take the A171 to Fylingdales Moor (grid reference NZ 922045).  There, turn right on to a minor road signed 'Robin Hoods Bay / Fylingthorpe'.  Continue through Fylingthorpe to upper Robin Hoods Bay, then turn left at a T-junction to join the B1447.  Go past the tennis courts and turn left into the car park.

Parking will be in the public car park.  Charges should not apply in November, but please check the notices and ticket machines in the car park.

Historic compact fishing village on a steep slope with network of narrow 'yards' and passageways.  Cliff-top fields and (possibly) rocky seashore and beach.

Specific hazards: Steep slopes and steep stone steps, both of which will be very slippery stone steps if wet (or icy!).  Light traffic on the access road.  Very light traffic (residents only) in the competition area.  Members of the public ambling in narrow passages.

Please be considerate to other people – particularly on narrow footpaths and in narrow alleyways – and respect private / out-of-bounds places as shown on the map.

Enquiries, the Finish and Download will all be close together, about 7 minutes' walk from the car park, on a grassy strip with picnic tables.

From the east end of the car park, turn right and walk south beside the A1447, heading for the Victoria Hotel at the top of the steep bank into the old village.  At the small roundabout, angle left on a tarmac path, go through a gate and follow the tarmac path downhill.  Turn left on to a small rough path (O-signed).

PARENTS:  Please note that young children must be accompanied from the car park to the Start and from the Finish / Download back to the car park.

There will be very limited entry on the day subject to the availability of maps (and, of course, the late entry surcharge) ..... but please make every effort to pre-enter if you possibly can.

Control descriptions will be printed on the map and loose copies will be available at the Start.

This event will use SPORTident electronic punching.

The control boxes will be activated to enable SIAC cards to operate in touch-free mode ..... but please note that you will need to punch the conventional way at the Start and Finish.

If you need to hire an SI-card (£1), please order it via the Racesignup online entry system and collect it from Download before your run.  Remember to return it as you download, and take care of it, as there will be a £20 charge if you lose it.  A limited number of SI-cards will be available for hire on the day, but please pre-order via the online entry system if at all possible.

The Start is about 2 minutes' walk from Enquiries / Download.

The disabled public toilet in the Station Car Park should be open.  There is a public toilet in the Bank Top Car Park (by the roundabout on the way to the Start), but you need 40p to get into it.

A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the Organiser, but please remember that competitors take part at their own risk.  Orienteering is an adventure sport – your safety while orienteering is your own responsibility.

Please make sure that you download even if you do not complete your course.

CLOK recommends that you carry a whistle whilst participating in this (and every) orienteering event.
