Location: |
Parking will be in the car park in front of the Queens Campus Sports Centre. The postcode is TS17 6BH and the what3words reference is ///busy.fakes.butterfly. Click on the link to see a map. You can zoom in (and, optionally, switch to Satellite mode) to see the details of the final approach to the event. You can also get directions if you specify your starting location. The easiest approach is from the Teesside Park junction on the A66 (one junction west of the A19 intersection). From that junction, proceed north, cross over the railways and take first exit at the roundabout. Follow this road and take the second exit at the next roundabout, which leads you right into the parking area. Please note that after the final roundabout there are some severe speed bumps, so drive slowly! There will be no orienteering signs to this event. If you'd like to come to this event by public transport, the Queen's Campus Sports Centre is only 12 minutes' walk (850m) from Thornaby Railway Station. There will be a tent where people who have come by public transport or by bike can leave clothing and equipment while they're out on their runs. | |||||||||||||||||||||
Terrain: |
Stockton Riverside was scheduled to host the 2020 JK Sprint ..... until Covid intervened. The competition area consists of a landscaped business park including university buildings and grounds and an adjacent housing estate. There should be very little traffic in the competition area during the event, but all competitors should take normal care when crossing roads. And please watch where you're going and where you're putting your feet. At previous events in this area, several competitors have tripped over speed bumps or kerbs, and one competitor had an unfortunate encounter with a bike shelter. Hedges mapped as uncrossable should not be crossed. If a gap isn't shown on the map, it doesn't exist ...... even if it looks as if it does! |
