CompassSport Cup Heat at Beanley

Sunday 12-Mar-2023

CLOK will be competing in the CompassSport Cup Heat at Beanley, NW of Alnwick, on Sunday 12‑Mar‑2023.

The CompassSport Cup

The CompassSport Cup (CSC) is an interclub competition with regional heats in the Spring and a final in the Autumn.  The competition is split into the Cup (clubs with over 125 members) and the Trophy (clubs with 125 or fewer members).

This year CLOK is in the Cup competition and we'll be competing against AIRE and WCOC in our regional heat.  The top club in the Heat goes through to the CompassSport Cup Final, which will take place in the New Forest on 12-Nov-2023.

We may need some people 'run up' to balance our team and give us the best chance of progressing.  I'll always consult / persuade a competitor before before entering them in a course other than their allocated one.

Please note that juniors cannot be shadowed if they're competing in the CSC competition.

There will also be White, Yellow and Light Green courses available at the event for runners who are not taking part in the main event.

The club will pay all entry fees for the CompassSport Cup runners.

Entries

Entries for the championship courses have to go in via Club Team Captains.  You can put in your own entries for the non-championship courses.  (See below.)

Please register your interest in running for CLOK in the CompassSport Cup Heat via the special Racesignup page.  The deadline for doing this is midnight on Friday 24th February 2023, but please don't wait until the last minute!  It will make my job as Team Captain a lot easier if I can get an idea of who's available sooner rather than later, so please register your interest as soon as you know that you'll be able to come to the event.

I will allocate people to courses – in most cases this will be the course allocated for your age class – and to the start time slots allocated to us.

You can pre-enter for the White, Yellow and Light Green courses (which do not count for the CompassSport Cup) via SiEntries.  There will also be entry on the day for these courses.

Final words

After a year in the small clubs competition last year, we are now back in the big clubs competition against two strong clubs: AIRE and WCOC.  However, we are closest to the competition area, and we'll have a fighting chance if we get a good turnout.  Please put this in your calendar and try to attend.

If you need any additional information – particularly for our new members – please contact me.
