NOTICE: The East Cleveland Klondike cycle race is taking place on the same day as this orienteering event.  The cycle race starts at 12 noon in Guisborough, does loops around the roads to the north and east of the town and then finishes in Guisborough, probably by about 4 p.m.  If you're heading homeward to the east of Guisborough after the orienteering event you may be delayed by the cycle race's rolling road closure system, but any delay should be no more than about 15 minutes.  For further information, including a map of the route of the cycle race, visit

Parking and registration will be at the Christmas Tree car park above Hutton Village near Guisborough.  The grid reference of the car park is NZ 604135.  The nearest postcode is TS14 8EP ... but please note that this is in Hutton Village.

Click on the link to see a map.  You can zoom in (and, optionally, switch to Satellite mode) to see the details of the final approach to the event.  You can also get directions if you specify your starting location.

From the A171, turn south (signposted Great Ayton) onto the A173 at the roundabout north-west of Guisborough.  Take the first left on to Stokesley Road, go up and over a slight hill, then turn right on to The Avenue at grid reference NZ 595154.  Where the road takes a 90 degree bend to the left (and becomes Hutton Lane), turn right towards Hutton Village.  Follow the road round through Hutton Village, through a gate and up the hill into the woods.  At the top of the hill, turn left to the car park.

Please car-share if you can and drive quietly / considerately through Hutton Village – future access will depend on this.  The gate will be tied open.

Terrain: Well established woodland with good path network.  Some areas have been felled and re-planted.
