COWPEN BEWLEY
|
|
Apologies for the last minute cancellation of the third event at Preston Park, due to, as the saying goes, "circumstances beyond our control".
However, it was good to see 296 runners from 13 schools competing at Cowpen Bewley, and welcome back to Grangefield and Northfield schools.
Top marks to the runners from Grangefield, who completed the hard Light Green course with very little experience very impressive, you should take up the sport seriously by coming to CLOK's Sunday competitions, details of which are to be found on the web site.
Encouragingly few disqualifications on the White Course, and none on the Yellow. But what happened on the Orange, with loads of people missing controls?
The final three events are scheduled for May 26th at Hardwick Park, Sedgefield, June 16th at Summerhill, Hartlepool and July 7th at Errington Woods, New Marske. Book the dates now but keep in touch in case of any last minute changes!
St. Paulinus and Yarm School continue to dominate the primary and lower secondary divisions, with Hurworth Comprehensive leading the upper secondary group, although they were pushed into second place by Grangefield on this occasion.
Certificates will be sent to the top 3 on each course, but will not arrive until early next term, as I am taking a break until after Easter.
Thanks to Stockton Borough Council and the Wardens team from Cowpen Bewley for the use of the area, and to the CLOK team of Peter Archer, Eileen Bedwell, Alison and Bill Hodgson, Judith and Ian Robb on the start, Joan Selby and Peter Partington patrolling, with Malcolm Gibson and Chris Mackenzie on the finish, supported by Linda Thornton. As ever, Phill Batts planned, set out and brought in the courses during the day.
See you next term.
