Award for CLOK.   We have just heard that CLOK came second in the National Governing Body competition to find the UK Orienteering Club of the Year, the winner to go forward to the National Club of the Year Award finals.  Much of the justification for CLOK's recognition is the work we do with schools in the region - so a big Thank You for your support!

The third league event of 2004/05 was supported by 291 competitors from 21 schools.  Thanks to Stockton Council and the Preston Park team for accommodating us.  Thanks also to the CLOK team - Joan and Martin Adamson on the start, Ann and Joe Dobbs with Mike Rickard on the finish, Eileen and John Bedwell and Joan Selby on results, and Gill Hardy and Bill Hodgson patrolling.  We now have a close competition in the primary schools sector, with St Patrick's and Yarm Preparatory neck and neck.  The senior event was keenly contested, with just a few points separating the first three schools.

Nice to see a representative from Roseberry Primary School, Great Ayton, and welcome back to Saltburn Primary, Bydales and Northfield School.  We hope to see you again at our events next term.

Note:   A number of competitors on the White course punched the control at the tree between 8 and 9 instead of going further to the fence corner.  It is important to read the control description and the control letters to prevent this type of error.

Tees Valley Games, Saturday 18th June, Summerhill.   Orienteering will feature in the Games, with each district being represented by a team of six in years 7-9 and six pairs in years 5-6.  Teams will be selected by us, based on schools competition results and other known form - so be sure to run well!

Publicity.   The Gazette photographer was at today's event.  The report and pictures should be in the junior sport section either this Saturday or the Saturday following.

The jury is still out as to whether we can fit in a fourth event in the summer term (at Summerhill) to make up for the cancellation on 2-Mar-2005.  Watch out of the summer term orienteering newsletter. Jon Williams
