Firstly thanks to all those who competed today, making the event really enjoyable for all.

Judging by the number of hired dibbers and unattached runners (in the club sense rather than romantic sense – well it is Valentine’s day after all), and from talking to people at registration, there were quite a few entering for the first time.  It was great to meet you and we hope very much to see you again soon.  The policy of letting those people run another course at no extra fee proved very popular – we saw newcomers gaining confidence on one course and then going straight on to a harder challenge.  With one good run completed, there’s an achievement even if the second run doesn’t go so well.  (On a technical note, this policy may always need two PCs running to cope with the mixed registration and download period efficiently.)

A very big thanks to the Planners – Jon, Shelley, David and Viv – and to the Controller – Joan – who worked for many months, often in deep snow, to set out and check the courses.  Thanks to Will for the SI Manager role, and battling to make a square map fit on to a rectangular page.

Also thanks to those who helped on the day – Richard Rigby and Alan Cranke as start supervisors; Carolyn Rigby and Clare Hunter as registration administrators; Alice Rigby as dibber, ceilidh and raffle ticket sales assistant; John Hunter and Aidan Rigby as string course managers; Katherine, Matthew, Jennifer and Paul Keogh and Jenny Melling as control collecting operatives; Chris Mackenzie and Ann Dehany as SI deputy managers.
