invites you to an Old-Style Orienteering Event at

Happy 40th Birthday, CLOK!!

Note:  Every effort is being made to make this event a pleasurable experience for the younger and newer competitors as well as providing some nostalgia for "oldies".

Location: Parking is beside the old Drovers' Road at grid reference SE 473983.  The event will be signposted from the centre of Osmotherley Village at grid reference SE 457972.
Terrain: Mixed woodland with a good network of paths, walls and ditches, plus a small area of moorland.
Courses: For the very young there is a "pram-pusher's" course and a string course too.
For the young and for less experienced orienteers there are White, Yellow and Orange courses.
For the regulars there are three technical courses – Short, Medium and Long.
Map: Black and white map.   1:10,000 scale.   A4 size.
The map is not waterproof.  Please bring your own map bag or plastic bag to protect your map during your run.
The courses will not be pre-marked on the maps.  Please bring a red pen to copy your course from the master map on to your competition map.
There will be written control descriptions.
Punching system: Control cards and pin-punches will be used.
You may wish to bring safety pins to attach your control card (and your control descriptions) to your O-top.
Timings: The pay car windows will be open (for registration) from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
Starts will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Courses close at 2:00 p.m.
Fees: All at 1969 prices!
Adults:  £1.00     Juniors:  10/- (also known as 50p)
Facilities: Chemical toilet in a canvas tent (.... okay, with an alternative option of a portaloo for those who don't want to get that far into the spirit of orienteering in the 1960's).
Dogs: Dogs are permitted on leads in both the car park and the competition area.

Safety: Please remember that you must report to the Finish even if you do not complete your course.
CLOK strongly recommends that you carry a whistle whilst participating in this (and every) orienteering event.
