invites you to a Local Orienteering Event at
NEWTON HANZARD

Location: Newton Hanzard is adjacent to the A689, 2 miles west of the junction of the A19 and the A689.  The event will be signed from the roundabout at NZ 423275.  Approximately 400m east of the roundabout, turn left on to a farm track for 200m to parking / assembly.
Terrain:

This is a lovely new area for orienteering, by kind permission of Wynyard Estates and Woodlands.co.uk.  The area contains a network of stream valleys in natural, open, deciduous woodland, surrounded by sections of newer, managed plantation.  There are very few areas of brambles or brashings.

All fields are strictly out of bounds.

Courses: All the normal colour coded courses from White (very short and easy) to Brown (long and difficult).
Map: New map by Dave Allison, Cat Taylor and Paul Taylor.   1:10,000.   5m contours.   A4 size.   Overprinted on waterproof paper.   Separate control descriptions.
Punching system: SPORTident electronic punching will be used.  SI cards will be available for hire on the day at a cost of 50p each.  There will be a £25 charge for any lost SI-card.
Splits printouts and results will be available at the event.  Full results, Splitsbrowser, RouteGadget and a discussion forum will all be available at www.clok.org.uk afterwards.
Registration: 10.00 a.m. - 12.00 noon     Bring your SI card ("dibber") to registration for paperless entry.
Note:   If you are going to bring a group of competitors to this event then please contact the Organiser by email by Wednesday 24-Jun-2009 so that we can print the right number of extra maps.
Starts: 10.30 a.m. - 12 noon.
There will be a 1 km walk to the Start.   Controls will be collected progressively after the last start.
Fees: Seniors:   £7.00     (£2.00 discount on production of a British Orienteering membership card)
Juniors / Students / UB40:  £2.00
Please help us by bringing the correct change.
Facilities: Portaloo.   Water at the Finsh.   First aid at the Finish.   Cakes for sale.
Dogs: Dogs are welcome at this event provided that they are kept under control.
