Cleveland Orienteering Klub invites you to a Local Night Event at COD BECK on Saturday 31st January 2009 |

Cod Beck is 2 miles from the A19, 25 minutes from A1/A168 junction at
Dishforth, 15 minutes from the A66/A19 junction on Teesside. From the T junction in the centre of Osmotherley Village (grid reference SE 457972), turn north and continue for 2 km to the public car park at 'Sheepwash' (grid reference SE 469993). | ||||||
| Terrain: | Cod Beck is a great area for night events well bounded, and interesting for all ranges of experience. It comprises mixed woodland with a good network of paths and rides, some rock, contour and vegetation detail, and a small contrasting section of open moorland adjacent to a stream valley. | ||||||

A (around 4.5km) B (around 3.5km) Introductory (Orange standard, around 2.5km) | ||||||
| Map: | 1:7,500 scale. Updated in 2008. A4 size. Waterproof paper. Separate control descriptions. | ||||||
| Punching system: | SPORTident electronic punching will be used. SI cards will be available for hire on the day at a cost of 50p each. There will be a £25 charge for any lost SI-card. | ||||||
| Registration: |
5 p.m. ‑ 6 p.m. To assist with map printing, it would be helpful if you could register your intention to come along to this event, especially if you are bringing a group of competitors. If possible, please send an email to the Organiser by Wednesday 28-Jan-2009, indicating how many people you will be bringing to the event and which courses they would like to run. Bring your SI card to registration for paperless entry. | ||||||
| Starts: |
The Start will be open 5:30 p.m. ‑ 6:30 p.m. For added drama, 'A' course competitors can choose to take part in the optional Mass Start at 6 p.m. The Start is within 400m of the car park. Courses close at 19:30. Controls will be collected in progressively after the last start. | ||||||

Seniors: £6.00 (£2.00 discount on production of a
British Orienteering membership card) Juniors / Students / Benefit recipients: £2.00 Please help us by bringing the correct change. | ||||||
| Results: | Splits printouts will be available at the event. Full results, Splitsbrowser, RouteGadget and an event discussion forum will all be available on the CLOK web site (www.clok.org.uk) afterwards. | ||||||

Please note that there will be no toilets at this event. There are pubs and restaurants in Osmotherley and Swainby. | ||||||
| Dogs: | Dogs are welcome provided that they are kept under control. | ||||||

This event is taking place at night in Winter. Please dress
accordingly. Lone drivers, please leave your labeled car keys at registration. Please remember that competitors take part at their own risk. Your safety whilst orienteering is your own responsibility. CLOK strongly recommends that you carry a whistle whilst participating in this (and every) orienteering event. Please remember that you must download even if you have not completed your course. |
