Open moorland doesn't always offer a genuine technical challenge so Steve offered as much route choice as possible, even to the extent of alternative crossing points in most cases. This did lead to several people being caught out as they headed towards forbidden fences.
There was also the physical challenge, not only for you but also for the controller checking sites, checking controls (3 hours!!) and collecting controls (another 3 hours!!). This certainly made up for not entering the OMM this year. Did you get your money's worth?
I'm sure those on the 'Brown' appreciated the presence of some useful paths, greatly enhanced by the recent m/c trials event. How do they get away with it?
Some of the terrain isn't as runnable as we'd like it to be, but as a consolation it does give you the opportunity to slow down and think about the scenery you might like to come back and enjoy.
Thanks for coming everybody; it was a pleasure to see you all, especially those new to orienteering.
