Comment by Chris Wright of CLOK. Submitted at 08:29 on Wednesday 9-Jul-2008. SUBJECT: Planner's comments Thank you all for turning out - I hope you enjoyed your runs. I really enjoyed my planning visits, squeeezed in in snatches between work and picking my daughter up from her ballet lessons. Congratulations to Karen on winning the O-Cross after a race long battle with Paul Thornton, and it was good to see so many youngsters in the chasing pack. Many thanks to all helpers but in particular to Joan Selby for her careful controlling, and for O-Cading the map corrections and courses, to Will Dehaney for map printing and to Di and Ellie for the SI. One competitor was a little upset at the finish with some competitors giving verbal assistance to other runners - I hope this was an isolated incident and won't happen again. Another runner expressed concern with the siting of 113 (shallow re-entrant). Joan and I visited the site afterwards, and I paced in from surrounding features. The kite may have been hung 5-10m from the centre of the circle, too far downhill - but as the corrected location would have been in the middle of a forest of thistles...... |
