ARNCLIFFE WOODS REGIONAL EVENTOrganisers' Comments |

We were very fortunate in being blessed with nice weather, a good assembly centre and most important, an excellent competition area using both woodland and the moor.
It shouldn't have been a surprise that there was a large entry, with over a hundred entering on the day, but at one point we did question whether enough maps had been printed.
Thanks must go to Alastair, the Planner who has made the most of the area and planned the courses to be both technical and interesting, getting people out onto the moor as well as the woodland. Many thanks to David Brook for stepping in at a late stage to control the event.
We were very fortunate to be able to use the village hall and its facilities, and thanks must go to the hall committee, and to Pauline the caretaker.
Unfortunately we were let down by the portable toilet people. The hall toilets are not used to coping with such a large number of users and for that reason we hired a loo to stand outside and take away some of the pressure. This loo failed to appear, although confirmation had been received that it would be in place by 8:30 a.m. Sorry to those who felt they may have been "inconvenienced" by this.
There was a problem with hire dibbers. We ran out fairly early on and some people had to wait for runners to return so that we could recycle their dibbers. We can only apologise and take the experience away with us to look into whether we need to increase the stock. On the positive side, it seems to indicate that there are perhaps more juniors and new orienteers coming along to events.
Back to the bouquets. We would like to thank all those who came along to help. This event was very demanding on helpers, there being two starts, two finishes and a busy road crossing. However, everyone rose to the occasion and contributed to a really successful and enjoyable event.
