First race in the Autumn Sprint Orienteering Series held between September and December 2007.
Location: Lord Stones Country Park, near Carlton-in-Cleveland.  Grid reference NZ 523032.

Please note that the minor road in Carlton-in-Cleveland village is likely to be closed for repair at the time of the event.  This would be the normal approach route from the A172 for most people.  There will probably be a signed diversion.  If there isn't, then we suggest you travel 2km south-west along the A172 (towards the A19), take the minor road south through Faceby, continue on to Carlton and turn south up the normal approach road to Lord Stones.
Terrain: A flat plateau perched 500 feet above the Tees Valley on the edge of the Cleveland Hills, sandwiched between Cringle Moor and Carlton Bank.  Fantastic views!  The owner of Lordstones Café has created a smashing recreational area – ponds and clumps of trees set in an area of rough grassland with a network of mown paths and larger mown lawns.
Courses:
A   Approximately 2.5 km
BApproximately 1.5 km
Both courses will feature fast running all the way.  Anyone can have a go!
Map: 1:4,000 scale.    Pre-marked and bagged.
Punching system: This event will use SI electronic punching.  SI cards will be available for hire on the day at a cost of 50p each.
Entries: There is no need to pre-enter for the races, but please let Linda Thornton know by the preceeding Wednesday (26-Sep-2007) if you would like to join in the training session.
Registration: 9:30 - 10:20 a.m.
Starts: 10:00 - 10:30 a.m.
Fees: Seniors:  £2.00     Juniors / Students / UB40:  £1.00
Training: The races will be followed by a CLOK Junior training session.  Adults are also welcome.  Limit of 30 people.  Please let us know if you want to join in.
Facilities: Wonderful (licensed!) café.   Toilets.   Many walks.   Mountain bike routes on the moors, and purpose-built tracks.
