BRITISH MIDDLE DISTANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS
IN MULGRAVE WOODS

Thanks to you all for coming to the event and making it such a success, and
thanks to the following, without whom it wouldn't have happened:
-
To Lord Normanby and Mulgrave Estates (John Hoyes - Agent, Gary Liddle - Head
Keeper, Jim Mortlock - Head Forester) for access to the woods.
-
To Robert and Steven Marshall of Rock Head Farm for parking and Assembly
fields. The farmers were seriously busy with lambing until a couple of
days before the event, when things quietened down a bit. Consequently,
Steven felt comfortable with allowing a handful of vehicles (traders, toilets,
computer gear) through his farmyard and past his barns where the young lambs
were being kept.
-
To Paul Taylor for planning excellent, testing courses, and for negotiating
the access with Mulgrave Estates and with the farmers.
-
The weekend was a joint effort with Eborienteers, so many thanks to Nev Myers
(Saturday organiser), Dave Relton and Sue Adams (SI computing for both days)
and to Catherine Harrison (who took entries for both days).
-
To Alastair Mackenzie for setting up the web site and to Paul Thornton for
subsequently maintaining it.
-
To Peter, Marion and Duncan Archer, Pippa Whitehouse and Joan Selby for
carrying most of the gear down from the car parking field to Assembly on
Saturday afternoon, and to Paul Thornton for his sterling efforts on Sunday
morning.
-
To Terry Unsworth for dealing with the fence near the final control and for
ferrying gear in and out of Assembly in his 4-wheel drive.
-
To Paul and Linda Thornton as 'on the day' organisers.
-
To Chris Poole for commentary.
-
To all the other CLOK team leaders and helpers on the day.
-
To all the CLOK helpers and volunteers from other clubs who carried the gear
back up the hill from Assembly to car parking.
-
To my wife Di and kids Lani, Ellie and Livi for all their help over the last
9 months (designing flyers, help with computing, planning the string course,
buying the sticks of rock and helping on the day).
Finally, I know there were (and still are) many issues surrounding the event
on-line entry, FCC entries, who is this a British Middle Championship
for?, etc. etc. etc. some of which have been resolved satisfactorily,
some less so. I just hope that these issues didn't detract from your
enjoyment of competing in Mulgrave Woods.
